8 Years

Eric and i celebrated 8 years of being married on Sept 4th. We went to dinner at olive garden and enjoyed some adult time, just chatting. We were home by 8:30 and just had a very calm and easy going night. He got me the newest SIMS games, and we got a card games expansion for him. It was a nice night for us. Happy anniversary Monkey. I love you!

Century 16 Shooting.......

With my time off i decided to take some time a visit the memorial. Now for anyone that doesn't know, I am Gateway class of '97. I am proud to say i called Aurora my home, and to this day i still do, just a different side of town. I grew up at Aurora mall, had one of my 1st jobs there used to ditch school to go there. It was a place we all hung out. The theatre came later, after i graduated and stopped visiting the mall, but i have many fond memories of it. I saw Titanic there, I've had dates there. It's one of the places Eric and i went on some of our 1st dates. And in one night, 1 man had almost managed to shatter all those memories and tarnish my city's name. 13 people lost their lives for reasons we may never know, and many more were injured. At the memorial, i was able to see the theatre, and memories came rushing back to me. And then i imagined my friend Adam's truck cruising down the street with me and Tiffany in the front, trying to make it to the mall and back before lunch was over. I watched as Eric and I turned into the street to see a movie. I watched as my car turned to take Rohan to the mall and play. I saw all of these things in the waves and waves of flowers and candles and stuffed animals, so out of place on the dirt. It was then that i decided, this man will not take away those memories and replace them with ones of sadness. I will grieve along with everyone, but i will also remember that love is stronger, and Aurora and all of it's residents still stand, we will not be broken by you. We will grieve, we will feel sadness, and then we will recover, and be stronger than we were.

This one hurts......

He would only stand still for the one picture
Rohan started pre-school on Wednesday, and let me tell you i was NOT prepared for that one.  But because all the pieces fall into place just right, it makes to most sense for me to go back to work.  Which means Ro had to go to school.  I am more ok with it than i thought i would be honestly.  It's a pre-K and daycare, so he's actually getting the pre-school he needs for Kindergarten, plus the daycare we need :-)  Eric took him to school yesterday and I picked him up.  He didn't have such a great 1st day, but i think that's pretty normal.  He was excited to go back today, and when I got him, he said it was better today (they even got him to try new foods!!)  hopefully the good attitude continues, as it makes my decision to go back to work that much easier.  I am going to miss spending my days with him though, taking him places and discovering new things, or revisiting old things we like.  But i am glad that he'll get to spend time with kids his own age doing a lot of fun stuff.

1st grade

On Tuesday Aragorn started the 1st grade.  All day.  I knew this day would come, and i have not looked forward to it ever.  I am excited for him, and i am so glad that so far his days seemed to be going well.  But, this is a huge step as much for him as it is for me.  I have looked forward to packing a lunch for him since he was born, kissing him and wishing him a good test day or whatever.  But now that the time is here, i am a little sad.  I suppose that it will subside, and i will be all to happy to send him off in the next couple of years, but for now, i demand extra kisses, cause i miss him so.

Cha-cha-cha-Changes......

I GOT A JOB!!  I start working for a friend of ours dong some office work on Tuesday.  As excited as we are fr this, it certainly added some new things to the house.  Mainly Rohan would go into preschool/daycare.  We were lucky though and found a good one.  Aragorn started 1st grade on Tuesday and Ro Started Wednesday.  It has been very strange to not have them at home while i am home, so have taken the last couple of days to myself.  Although, i am sad to leave the SAHM roll, I look forward to this opportunity, and getting back out into the working world.

Celtic Festival

A couple weeks ago we took the boys to a Celtic festival that the city of Elizabeth. It was pretty neat, almost a mini-Renaissance festival. Less people, MUCH less money, and just as fun. The boys got to try all the games because they were $1 each. They also made some pretty cool key chains out of glass that we should be getting very soon. They learned a little bit about some Scottish history a lot of Clans had booths set up and would stamp a "passport" the boys got, each clan had their own cool stamp, i think Eric and I had as much fun collecting them as the boys did. Except for the pretty nasty spill from the monkey bars, we had a pretty awesome time.
