Chairs.......
Me to Rohan: "If you need a chair to reach it, your probably not supposed to be getting into it in the 1st place"
Settle for a slow down
Is what we're saying now that things are getting worse in SD. My godmother posted this on her blog last night
We had BAD storms again on Sunday night, with another 2.5 inches of rain and high winds. We probably would have lost more trees except we lost all the big ones last year. This storm brought down the big cottonwood across the street, and thank goodness it fell into the nature center. It would have crushed the garage and this makes it the city's problem, not mine!
The river is at 35 feet this morning. Heard on the news today that the man that owns Bev's on the River is using 18 pumps to keep the water out. We've also had a levee breach here at the Nature Center, and it's pouring water into Mud Lake, which is OK as long as that is where it stays! They say we are OK, and so far we are still dry!

We hope it stays that way, and the water leaves them alone!!

June 24th 2011
The day the state of New York said "Love is LOVE" same sex marriage was passed into law. Making it legal for couples who are in LOVE to get married!! I am so happy that steps are being made to insure that everyone is free to love as they choose, and marry who makes them happy. I hope it stays, and the supreme court upholds the decision. I hope that my boys can look into history books and say "Wow, people weren't allowed to marry who they wanted once? that's CRAZY" Crazy indeed.

My Cousin
I have to show this picture of my cousin Jane, because i think she looks so pretty. She is so awesome!! She reminds me of my mom so much, not only in looks (but damn there is NO denying they are related) but also in her personality. She's outgoing, fun, CRAZY adventures. She's not afraid to approach people, she really has a live life for every moment attitude. One of my fav things she said while we were in NYC was "Excuse me, my friend" when asking someone to take a picture. She is so much fun!! I miss her silly, and hope we can become closer than we have been. I would love for her to come visit us one day, meet the boys and Eric, that would be so cool!
Happy Fathers day to my Dad
He is the man that aside from Eric, i hope my boys aspire to be. He has been there for me, and stood by me. He is the living example of the saying "anyone can be a father, but it takes a REAL man to be a dad"
Happy Father's Day
Happy father's day to Eric. It's been a pretty calm day. The boys got him a cool new red shirt that says grill king on it. We got to enjoy a nice morning at church, and a wonderful calm afternoon at home. For diner, Eric grilled us some chicken, steak & corn. It wasn't an exciting day, we didn't do anything crazy, just spent some time with eachother. If the new American father feels bewildered and even defeated, let him take comfort from the fact that whatever he does in any fathering situation has a fifty percent chance of being right.~ Bill Cosby
Date night

Last Thursday Eric and i went on a date night to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. They were having a Summer Solstice Celebration, and I thought it was great opportunity for Eric and i to get some alone time, and geek out a little bit. The museum had a Mesoamerican Archaeologist explain why the Mayan culture loved the sun so much, and why they did sacrifices (human and animal). We then went to the terrace were we had an AMAZING view.
We also had a couple of drinks (a tequila sunrise for me, along with Stonehenge)
and looked through the telescope they had set up (by the time it was my turn, the clouds were covering the sun) so i didn't see anything, but we did get to see the sun through the sunspoter though, that was cool.
They had tables set up where you could make your own sun catcher & Sun Dials. We got to enjoy the space area of the museum without a bunch of other people, Eric even got to play with the space ship docking station.

Update on Mom......
1st i'd just like to take a moment and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I do beleive they helped.
Mom's surgey took place this past Tuesday the 7th. She did in the end opt for a double mastectomy, for many reasons. So we started the day with an appt that we were told would take 15 mins, and ended up being 2 hours. Then after driving to a diffrent building, we sat in the OR prep room for about 2 hours, they told us the surgeon was running about 30 mins late, which also added to the stress. Mom was ready to leave (seriously she would have gotten up if she hadn’t been hooked to IV’s) The surgery went fine, there were no issues. She was in recovery only 30 mins before she was talking and laughing, which the nurse was very impressed with. She was rolled into her room about 8:15, and didn't sleep until well after midnight (which when you think about it makes sense, you just had a 4 hour nap, how do they expect you to sleep now?)
The doctors said they don’t expect any issues. They did look at her lymph nodes, and they say they are 95% sure there is no cancer, but just to be sure, they sent it to pathology. The doctor said her cancer is so small, that the likelihood of cancer in the nodes was very small, so she was optimistic about that. Mom was released Wednesday afternoon and came to stay with us. She did really well, only needing help with a couple of things. We saw the plastic surgeon Friday morning, and he did have a couple concerns, which we will address if they come up. Mom was home by Friday afternoon and is doing great. She sees the plastic surgeon again Monday. We continue to request prayers and good thoughts for the road ahead.

Oh the pressure.......
Of a vacation spot.
Since the boys are getting older, we've been inclined to go on a family summer vacation. Last year we went for 4 days to a resort in Cheyenne Colorado. This year we had discussed camping (for real camping) but Eric just can't get into the "camping mood" which i understand. I am not a fan of camping, but i have been CAMPING before, and it's not exactly "low stress" so i can side with him on that. So i thought perhaps we could go away for a couple days, maybe go somewhere in state for a day, and then get a nice hotel room at a place with a pool for the evening, enjoy diner, and then drive home the next day. I figure this is a nice 24hr staycation. We can't really afford a vacation this year. But maybe this is something we can swing. Now the question is, where do we go? Cave of the winds.....Royal gorge scenic railway. Or do we even have to decide that? Couldn't we just rent a nice B&B somewhere in the mountains and spend the day and evening exploring?..............So many choices.

In our thoughts......
Asking for you to take a moment and think good thoughts for my godparents, and everyone in SD right now. The flooding is getting worse. My godparents are fine for now, and we just want it to stay that way, they have taken some precautions and stocked up on a few things, just in case they get cut off from the closest town (the next one would be over 70 miles away). I can't imagine how scary that mus be for them. If you get a moment today just take a minute and put them in your heart.
Lost another one.....
Bum knee......
Well, let's hope not. Last week, Aragorn was standing and dancing to a song, then next minute we was down on the floor. He had rolled his knee. At 1st he didn't know how to react to the pain. He cried for a little bit, but then once the surprise wore off, he was doing better. He had to sit with some frozen corn on his knee, which wasn't fun for him, he wanted to run and play. Rohan decided he had also hurt himself, and needed some peas for his knee.
Memorial Day 2011......
This memorial day was kinda off the cuff. Eric and i hadn't decided to do anything for the holiday, but we really hadn't discussed it either. So last Thursday when we went to the Weinmaster's for dinner, we asked them what they had planned, they said nothing, so we decided to go for it. Eric smoked a brisket, and it came out awesome!! I made a noodle and a potato salad (both weight watchers recipes) and they were great. The boys made a hand print wreath, which i thought were pretty cute. The W's came over and the boys played, (so much Aragorn slept in yesterday morning) they enjoyed some coloring and some painting, cupcakes, ice cream hot dogs, even little Lyla got in on it. Unfortunately it was still to cold to go in the pool, but the boys made do with the water from my fountain. T-Bri joined us later in the evening and then hung out with us for a marathon of True Blood.
