Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a] and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3And God permitting, we will do so. To the zoo....

We had a a high of 65 degrees today, so off to the zoo we went. We got to all of our old friends, along with some new ones. We were there super early so we got to walk all around and not get interupted. We got to see the birds and all of the monkey's. So much fun.

Touche

And so it begins!! Next weekend Aragorn will start lessons in fencing, and we hope he likes it as much as he let on!! Even Rohan got to try it out.

Musings of a 30 year old

Well, as I look ahead to my 31st birthday (Tuesday) I am both sad and happy to look back at my 30th trip around the sun. At no time in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be where I am today. Growing up I saw myself as a Lawyer, or cop, maybe even a PR rep or interior designer, living in Ney York in a penthouse apartment, being the center of attention............something glamorous.

Instead, I am a happily married woman with the world’s best husband and two of the greatest gifts one could ever have. I have a house that although not always tidy, is always home. I have a dog, that drives us insane most days, but I love to death. I have a close knit family that I love and adore. And friends that I like to think I can always count on. I have a job, that even though it is not as glamorous as I had hoped, it pays the bills. I can’t help but see how wonderful my life has truly been. It has not always been easy, make no mistake about that. But looking back, the good out weighs any bad there ever was. I look up to my mother for making me, who I am today, even if we didn’t always agree, I now know she was usually right. Becky and Strut are more influential in my life than I could ever give them credit. And I thank god each day that they are in my life, as well as my boys. There are too many people to thank for helping to shape me into the women I am, but know that I love each and everyone of you. I had a lot of fun being 30; I think credit must go to my husband and boys as they defiantly keep me young. Trips to the museum and the zoo, church outings, staying in to play and all the new learning we do every day. There is not a day that goes by that I do not learn something about myself or my family. I have learned that to me, the greatest gifts I could ever have, are a husband that loves and adores me. Two boys that think I hang the moon, and bring up the sun. A mother that is proud of the women I have become. And family that is grateful I am in it. I have also learned that in life, you don’t always get what you want and things don’t always go as planned. But in the end, it’s ok. Sometimes, not planning is just what you need. I will highlight some things I have learned or discovered about myself that are close to me or just some things I like.

I will never be as thin as I was before I had kids. It’s just a fact. I am willing to accept it
I have a beautiful natural hair color, that more people than not are jealous of (Thanks Honey)
I have the gift of gab, I love to talk, I will fill dead air in a heartbeat
I will ALWAYS be a dancer.
I am way too hard on myself.
I am very spoiled
No matter what he has done, I will always love my father. But I will never be able to forgive him.
I miss Salli more and more everyday and I wish I could have gotten to know her better.
I hope one day to actually finish my novel and get published.
Sometimes, you have to let them fall so they can get back up and do it again (this has been very hard for me)
Cheetos (hot and spicey please)
Gummi bears (red and white only)
Orhcids (preferably purple)
Getting to snuggle with Eric for 5 more minutes
Facebook
Writing
Lipton iced tea (no sugar no lemon)
Rain
Fall days
Snowy days (when I get to stay home)
Hot Cocoa with Malibu
Eric’s cooking
My Boys kisses (even wet ones)
My boys laughs (how can you not love that sound)
Long talks over coffee
Songs that make you smile
Old pictures that take you to that place and time
Taking pictures
My kiss hello from Eric after a long day at work
Text messages just to see how I am doing
Cards
Getting dolled up

And last but definitely not least
“I love you too Momma” From Aragorn
“I wuv you” From Rohan

So there you have it. Ramblings of a soon to be 31 yr old mom, wife, daughter, sister, niece, god daughter, friend. Just some of the hats I wear proudly.
Forrest Gump's mom was right.............Life IS like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. But I believe you should savor every bite.
Here’s to another trip around the sun.

~~Cheers~~
Samantha

Things I’ve learned this week:

My husband is a very understanding and loving man. I see this daily in the interactions with me, our kids, and people he knows. This point was driven home even more for me when his grandfather Irvin called this week. I feel bad because sometimes our lives get so hectic we tend to forget that Irvin and Avis do not get e-mail or this blog, and they get left out. Irvin requested we send him some pictures as he hasn’t seen Aragorn since he was about 2 (yeah, I felt like an ass) hearing Eric talk to his grandfather was wonderful. He loves Irvin and I know would like to see him more, but for now was content just talking to him and hearing he was ok. Eric is the first person to entertain the boys. Anything from playing ball, to hiding under the covers, to building houses out of the sofa cushions and playing “Little pig, little pig” to wrestling with Aragorn, he is constantly encouraging the boys and their learning. Then, there’s me. My husband puts up with a lot from me. I am not the easiest person to deal with, and I make no beef about letting things I don’t like be known. He is always there to listen when I have something to say, or just need to gripe because they took my internet away at work (which they did). He is truly a blessing to me and the boys, and I am happy that everyday I get to come home to him, and the boys get to call him daddy.

The voice of Donald duck is nothing if not done by a 3 year old. Aragorn is getting better at Donald’s voice, and sounds so cute.

Lemonade mix is much better eaten (as powder) directly from the container, we thank Rohan for sharing this information with us, even if we’ll just have to take his word for it.

Elmo is a GOD. For those of you unfamiliar with Elmo. He is a furry red monster on Sesame Street. Rohan is 100% no questions asked; please do not interrupt me, in love with Elmo. Which we are ok with, after all, Elmo teaches us how to count, share, and be funny!!

Aragorn is a natural fencer. We bought the boys some Styrofoam swords at the dollar store this week and Aragorn was more than happy to show dad his skills. His stance was almost perfect, his salute was better than that, and how awesome is it to hear your child say “onguard” and assume the proper footing? To me it was very cool. (we have looked into Fencing and we think we will take him to watch a class next week, he can join with Eric if he wants)

There is no better sound in this world than my children laughing. No matter my mood, if they laugh I will too.

Friendships are everything; I am learning this more and more as I get older. I have some friends that I have had since elementary, some since middle school and some since High School. No matter which one I am talking to, I feel like I can tell them anything. They are wonderful and each fulfills me differently.

No matter how much you talk to family, devastating news is devastating. My sister found 3 lumps last week. She hopes to get in this coming week for a biopsy. We are obviously praying that they come back negative. Please think about her and pray if you do. This news would be life altering at any age, but at 26 and the mom of 3 young boys, this is.......unthinkable.

We are getting more and more excited to visit South Dakota. I am looking forward to a whole week off, and I know we are all looking forward to seeing Becky and Strut!! I think also Eric is looking forward to getting there, and not having to worry about the drive anymore.

We hope you are all well.

~~Cheers~~

It's not having what you want.......

It's wanting what you've got.

I can do everything through him who gives me strength-Philippians 4:13

But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. Philippians 4:10

Was a very good sermon today. Pastor Ryan was wonderful with getting his message across today, even made us all crack a chuckle a couple of times. Grandma Dean joined us today and then joined us for breakfast afterwords. We had a great time, and the boys were sad when she left. We hope she had fun too!!

~~We hope you are well~~

Happy Birthday Dylon

Rohan with Trista (Dylon's Mom)

The birthday Boy

Rohan and his family were invited to his friend Dylon's birthday party on Saturday. We had a wonderful time celebrating. Dylon had the theme of Thomas the Train so you know the boys were loving it. Dylon's mom Trista and his dad Chad did a wonderful job with making sure all of the kids and adults had a great time. Trista outdid herself on the cake, awesome job. And i think Dylon made out like a bandit. The boys had a great time coloring and eating, by the time we left and got home, it was all they could do to stay awake!!

Baby it's cold outside

Denver set a record low of 17 degrees this morning and a record lowest maximum temperature today at 26 degrees. Good thing we took the pool down last weekend.

Sunday Sermon

Dear brothers and sisters, whenever troubles comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. James 1:2-4

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
Please visit the church website or Pastor Ryan's Blog for church info.
This week we got some good news. Eric saw our family doctor on Friday, the injury will not require surgery. They changed Eric’s meds and told him it will heal on its own, eventually. Our daycare was closed on Friday so I took the day off and spent the day with my guys. We also ordered the boys costumes for Halloween, Aragorn will be Larry Boy from Veggie Tales, and Rohan will be Elmo, we may never get the out of those costumes. I also got a pretty cool thing, new dishes. Fell in love with them.

We got all the grocery shopping done Friday, so Saturday we were able to just hang out. Eric smoked some ribs with his homemade rub, Bria hung out with us, and helped me with the house and kids. Which included our yearly family pictures, I put my favorites on the blog. We got a couple of really good ones of the boys. So, we really had a great day. It was lazy and productive at the same time, which is always good. I reconnected with one of my long lost best friends this week, I have missed her so much!! We have already started talking with another friend of ours, and we are planning a 3 family vacation next summer. Can not Wait!! My friend from work had her baby a little girl they named Lilianne Marie born 10-2-09 4 pounds 3 oz. Mommy was released today, but Lili will have to stay a little while longer to beef up.

Today was church and as always a wonderful sermon. The boys are really liking it, even getting upset when it isn’t church day. We hope you are well.
