Joesph Kony......

Yesterday, i didn't know who this man was.  And i bet neither did you.  But today, i hate him.  And if you watch the video below, you will too.  Joseph Kony is a Ugandan warlord the bloodthirsty leader of a child army and child prostitution ring.

Now, hear me out before you stop reading.

I am posting this of my own free will.  I am speaking out against this tyrant, and i am hoping you will too.  Basically the video is a detailed explanation of what is happening.  The invisible children organization has spent their own, time, money and volunteers to help people affected by Joseph and they are helping to capture him.  Invisible Children’s KONY 2012 campaign aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice. In this case, notoriety translates to public support. If people know about the crimes that Kony has been committing for 26 years, they will unite to stop him.
Secondly, we want Kony to be famous so that when he is stopped, he will be a visible, concrete example of international justice. Then other war criminals will know that their mass atrocities will not go unnoticed or unpunished.

I urge you to watch the video, i really feel the full impact is better that way, you get a feeling from these people and what they have to endure.

We can all make a difference if we take a moment to help.  It doesn't take much, watch the video, make him famous, the more famous he is, the more likely he is to get caught.  And this man NEEDS to be caught.

Birthday's....

The boys and I had a little Birthday party for my mom this past Saturday.  Her birthday was actually the 23rd, but do to schedules, and all that was going on, this last weekend was the 1st time we've seen her since her birthday.  I kinda got the idea to give a her a little party after we talked a couple weeks ago.  My mother doesn't do sweets, at all.   It took Becky many years to catch on that no matter how delicious hers cakes were, mom just didn't eat them.  So i didn't bother with pancakes and waffles, i went straight to the meat.  I made a platter with meats and cheese's and we had Wasa bread and summer sausage.  I tell you what, those european's might be onto something ;-)  We opened gifts, and even had mom blow out some birthday candles.  Rohan picked every thing out from the plates to the flowers, which he insisted on carrying the whole time at the store.  And yet, when it came to her getting here and wanting Kiss's, he was nowhere to be found.  We had a great time talking and eating away.  Mom was very happy with her gifts and the familiar breakfast. I liked that the boys were excited to make her cards and give her gifts.  I like that we've instilled that in them, that birthday's are special, and need to be celebrated.

Rohan: dad where does God live?

Eric: God lives in heaven. He watches over us and takes care of us with his angels. He's the king of kings.

Oscar Night.....

The food.  If there is one thing we all do well, it's EAT!

More food, plus a close up of the "Oscar" i gave to everyone that got a Bingo, or got a catagory right.

Some Oscar Facts

The ballots and Bingo cards
Last night was the 84th annual Academy awards.  I use to watch with my mom when i was younger, but as i have gotten older, they have kind of fallen by the wayside, with Internet and all of that, i can watch the next day and then only watch the awards i want to see.  But for some reason this year i decided to host an Oscar party.  A few friends came and brought something yummy to share.  I demanded we all dress in out finest PJ'S and fuzzy socks and relax.  I printed up some ballots and some bingo cards and we ate and then sat and enjoyed the show.  We had a blast guessing who would win, and admiring (or not) all of the great dresses.  Who knew such a stuffy event could be so fun?  I will do one next year too, only bigger & better!!
