Oscar Night.....

The food.  If there is one thing we all do well, it's EAT!

More food, plus a close up of the "Oscar" i gave to everyone that got a Bingo, or got a catagory right.

Some Oscar Facts

The ballots and Bingo cards
Last night was the 84th annual Academy awards.  I use to watch with my mom when i was younger, but as i have gotten older, they have kind of fallen by the wayside, with Internet and all of that, i can watch the next day and then only watch the awards i want to see.  But for some reason this year i decided to host an Oscar party.  A few friends came and brought something yummy to share.  I demanded we all dress in out finest PJ'S and fuzzy socks and relax.  I printed up some ballots and some bingo cards and we ate and then sat and enjoyed the show.  We had a blast guessing who would win, and admiring (or not) all of the great dresses.  Who knew such a stuffy event could be so fun?  I will do one next year too, only bigger & better!!

100 days!

Today was Aragorn's 100th day of school.  His teacher had the class do a 100 day poster/project.  I was excited, A's 1st big project :-) So i had A think for a while what he wanted to use for his 100 day, 100 item poster. He said at 1st he wanted Lego's, i told him unfortunately those were a little to expensive to glue to poster board.  So we put our heads together, and came up with computer pieces! We placed a call to a good friend who's also in the computer business, and it just so happened he had a computer he wanted to get rid of, from 1993, so we were happy to take it off his hands.  Between what we got out of that, and what Eric had already here at the house, we got to 100 pieces in no time.  Eric helped A with the gluing, because we had to use the hot glue gun (now THAT was funny, watching Eric and that glue gun) but A designed the whole thing, and supervised Eric.  Rohan of course had to get in on the fun too.  We did his 100 days poster in stickers & glitter paint.  He did all of the painting and sticker placement, i did the letters and sparkles (just for clean purposes).  He was SO excited to take his poster to school, and show everyone.  A's teacher, was so impressed with the work Ro did (and the fact he did one) that she hung it in the hallway with all the other kids.  He was feeling pretty special.  Aragorn also got a certificate for his perfect 100 day attendance, which makes mom & dad feel pretty special too.

Reptiles.....

The museum has a new exhibit here until July about snakes, and lizards.  As Eric doesn't do anything cold blooded, for this exhibit i was on my own.  I took the boys this past Tuesday, because A was out of school, and i thought it would be nice and empty.  WRONG.  It was packed, i had to park at the Zoo, and we walked over.  After having lunch we brought with us, he headed up to the 3rd floor.  Now, the museum says this about the exhibit "See more than 60 live snakes and lizards from five continents as you explore the evolution, movement, and feeding habits of this ancient group of animals"  I kinda had to laugh once we got in.  There might be 60, but that's because some lizards had as many as 5 to a terrarium.  So i don't think that counts.  But anyway.  The exhibit itself was just OK, it was nothing exciting, and certainly nothing exciting for us here in Colorado, that can go next door to the Zoo and see the same animals, and MORE, plus cooler ones.  There was nothing in particular the boys liked, and they really just wanted to watch the show that was going on.  But it was nice for us to get out just me and my boys.  And it was better than staying at home. The ride home resulted in a usual museum coma as we call it.  The boys passed out about 5 mins into the drive.  And then slept all the way home.

BIGGER boy beds....

With our income tax return this year, I told Eric i don't care what happens, but i wanted to get the boys new beds.  We bought the convertible ones, and they have served us well.  But i thought it was time for the boys to move up, and into bigger and more comfortable beds.  On Saturday afternoon, Eric took Ro shopping and they bought the news beds.  The boys got to pick which bed sheet set they wanted.  Ro picked superheros, and A picked his always love, Dinosaurs.  I took this picture Sunday morning, and almost wanted to cry. I remember when i would look in these rooms and see a baby crib, now they have actual beds.  It makes me sad to lose my babies, but excited to see who they will become as they grow.

Grandparents Breakfast.....

We had all of the adults in Rohan's life over on Saturday for his birthday.  I like to give them a break from the chaos of the birthday parties with all of the kids.  They came over and we enjoyed breakfast burritos made by Eric (a tradition and favorite).  Rohan got some more gifts from everyone which included a new Airplane and dragon for his imaginex set from Omi B.  And from Grandad Craig and Grandma Belinda he got 2 pairs of cool light up shoes.  Some new socks & underoos (both not as appreciated by him as much as me, but i liked them) and a new pair of pretty cool Pj's he also got a new wallet and new sunglasses, all batman which he was ecstatic about.  He has carried the wallet with him every where since Saturday, Grandad even gave him some of his own monies for the wallet, which Ro is just to excited about.  He told me today
"Mom you don't pay anymore for anything, i can pay"
Oh honey, how i wish your $8 could pay for all you think it can.
He had a great time with all of his grandparents, he's always so excited to them.

Valentines day 2012.....

Valentines day this year was a little different for us.   We had to buy and prepare Valentines for A's class of 24.  I don't remember what it was like for me in kindergarten (if we even did it back then) but i do know that all through my school years, i did not look forward to Valentines day, and that's because i was unpopular, i never got any Valentine's.  But things have changes, and school's have realized that it's really no fun to be the kid that doesn't get any valentines, so they have every kid, bring a valentine for all the kids in class, which i think is pretty cool.  I had A sign his name to every single one of his valentines, then i put them in a little bag and gave each kid, a pencil, a box of candy & a bookmark i made from a paint sample and ribbon.  I got his teacher some heart shaped sticky note's and some Dove Chocolate (although after seeing what my teacher Friend Lisa got form her students, i will NEVER buy a teacher chocolate again, gift card all the way).  I think A had fun at his party and both Eric and i were able to join him, which was super cool.  Ro also gave out some valentines he did for his little buddy's at A's school.  Which i thought was really sweet of him.  He also signed his own name :-)

Eric and i exchanged cards and decided to leave the Valentines mushiness to the amateurs.  We don't really celebrate, but we do get each other a little something.  This year he got me a new Sims game that comes out in march, he also got me a forever rose, it sits in a vase, and when you push a button it opens and closes to reveal the saying I LOVE YOU, inside.  Eric got magic cards from me.

It was a good, but basically normal day for us.  Works for me.
