THAT kind of weekend........
For the 1st time in weeks Eric was home all weekend. This is always great because we can do errands and things as a family, instead of me doing it by myself during the week. Yesterday after my mom spent the morning with all of us, we went to Target and had lunch and did some shopping. The boys did great until the very end of the trip, they were tired of sitting and walking and it was getting late, they wanted stuff we had to say no to.....and they were just done, so the whining started, and then the crying, so much so i had to take Rohan outside. Aragorn did ok, but still the trip ended badly. The worst part was, we still had to stop at sprouts. There was no way around it we needed to get this weeks veggies, and more importantly dinner for the night. So i foolishly coned myself into thinking we can A. do this quickly, and B. Quietly. Neither happened. I ended up outside with both of them once, so fast i had people watching me. We stayed outside until they calmed down. I took them back in and Rohan started again. Crying, whining, miserable. I take him back outside, this time to the car. Once he calmed down (again) we went back in. Eric and Aragorn were waiting patiently for us. I felt bad as a mom that they had acted so bad, but i also understood why they were acting that way. So, by the time we were done with Sprouts we were ALL done. The boys went and played with their friend, and Eric and i put groceries away and got settled. The evening ended well with the boys falling asleep as soon as they layed down. But the day had worn us all down.
That was not at all how i had planned on Saturday going........But Sunday, Sunday was almost perfect.
We started the day by getting up late and having HUGE cinnamon rolls i bought at Sprouts with milk. That's what they ate, i had a green monster and some coffee. Then we dressed, packed our lunch and headed out. Now, we have learned in these years, we do not tell the boys where we are planning to go if we can avoid it. It just helps avoid issues if for some reason we can't do it. So they were excited to see the destination. The boys played with their leapsters and we all jammed to some tunes as we drove the long stretch of road that is Colfax, the boys would occasionally look up and watch passing people and traffric and ask if we were there yet (it is a long drive) . I told Eric today, i want to be like Lilo is in "Lilo & Stich" and take pictures of all the people on Colfax, it's such a diversity, I'm always amazed.
Anyway, we drove to the Museum, expecting the boys to get excited when they realized where we were. But they didn't say anything. It wasn't until we got into the building and they saw Rexy did they realize where we were (which means we haven't been there enough) we had planned to renew our yearly membership anyway, but that sealed it. Once we had signed up we ate lunch. The boys were so excited to see the new exhibit we had been promising, they discussed what it could be while they ate. When we finished we made our way into the exhibit. 1st we watched a video explaining what the exhibit was about. And when the doors opened, it was probably one of the coolest things i have EVER seen. Real life size MOVING dinosaurs, they MOVED. Not only did they move, they FOLLOWED your movement. They had the Velociraptor, Triceratops, and T-Rex mounted with video camera eyes. When you moved, it watched you and followed with it's head. All of them did this, and even if you felt like a snack about to be devoured, it was so cool. We also saw the T-Rex Named Sue. She was found almost 100% intact in Wyoming. After some back and forth between the government and the rancher who's land she was found on, it was determined her fossil belonged to the rancher. He sold her at public auction for $8.4 million. The most EVER paid for a fossil. Unfortunately, you aren't allowed to take any pictures inside the exhibit, and even though i did get a few my blog is public, so anyone could see them, and i don't wanna get in trouble, so i'll show you the ones i was allowed to take. We stayed in the exhibit for well over 1.5 hrs, and helped "Sherlock Bones" solve a Dino mystery. The boys LOVED it, even Eric and i were giddy. It was VERY cool. We hit up a few other exhibits and then we headed home. (we had to stop at walmart on our way home to get Rohan the only food he'll eat right now) I had put dinner in the crock pot, so it was waiting for us when we got home (that's always one less worry) and we continued to have a great evening.
So yesterday wasn't so great. But today made up for it. Maybe that's why we get 2 days off? In case the 1st day isn't so great.

Gluten Free....
So I made a pretty elaborate gluten free coconut chocolate cake
tonight. Let's run the list shall we?
Eric "It's OK, the texture is off, but otherwise ok"
Brianna "dude, I’m not eating that, what is it? Um,
no....what is that? Wait lemme try it
again, no....definitely no."
Aragorn gagged and spit it in the trash
Rohan Sniffed it, and said "um, i like the other
frosting" as he carried the plate to the trash.....
Guess I’ll be eating some cake
