Water into snow

Water into snow..........It was SO cold here Tuesday i tried this experiment. Boiling water tossed into the air, turns into instant snow. But, it's hard to film and toss water at the same time.....but you get the idea.

Baby it's COLD outside!!

Denver is in a deep freeze (for us anyway) with temps in the NEGATIVE, we are getting a taste of what the east coast has been dealing with for weeks. It was -19 Monday morning when the alarm went off. I heard the weatherman say it, but didn't believe it in my morning grogginess. But sure enough, it was that cold. Schools were closed Tuesday & Wednesday. Eric stayed home Monday because even HE said it was to cold. I snapped a couple pictures for the 30 seconds i could stand for the door to be open.

Coloring noodles.....

I have also done this with the boys. I colored all the noodles and them let them go to town with some heart shaped construction paper. They had a great time, and i look forward to making some necklaces and whatever else we can use noodles for. To color the noodles i used 1 tablespoon of alcohol in a plastic bag, added the noodles and some food coloring. The more color you add, and the longer you let the noodles sit, the more vibrant your colors will be, once they have sat in the bag, empty them out onto a paper towel covered sheet pan and let them dry. (they say 24 hours, but i didn't need that long) I wasn't Happy with the 1st batch of purple i did, but practice makes perfect.

Valentine Heart Project.....

I tried this craft myself before i did it with the boys. It was a little bit more work than i anticipated, so i just did the few hearts and called it a day. 1st i had to shave some crayons in various colors, red, pink, orange, and white. Then, i sprinkled the colors onto wax paper. Putting the paper between 2 pieces of newspaper, i ironed the sheets on low. Then, i cut out heart shapes, and hung them from clear string on a hanger. I would do this again, but next time i will plan a little better, and figure out a different way to hang the hearts from the window.
I got the idea from here.
